Edward Chapman Shoman was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1919. He was raised in and became a lifelong resident of Akron, Ohio. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Master Sergeant. After his military service, he gained employment at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in 1947. Shoman became the marketing manager of big tire sales. These included off-the-road tires for large earth moving equipment, including those that constructed the Trans-Alaska Pipeline in 197...
